Individual Therapy: World Mental Health Day is one day. Your mind needs the other 364.
World Mental Health Day, Saturday 10 October 2026 (source)
On 10 October your feed will fill with green ribbons, statistics and reminders that it is okay not to be okay. That matters. Awareness has changed how Britain talks about mental health. But awareness is the match programme. Therapy is the match.
Most people who reach out for individual therapy have been aware of their struggle for a long time. They know they are anxious, stuck, grieving or running on empty. What they lack is a space where the pattern can be understood, not just named.
What individual therapy actually does
Individual therapy gives you one protected hour to look at what sits underneath the symptom. Anxiety is rarely the whole story. It is often a signal from older experiences, family roles or parts of you that learned to keep you safe in ways that no longer serve you.
I work with psychodynamic, Jungian, Internal Family Systems (IFS), systemic and attachment based approaches. That means we do not only manage what is happening now. We explore why it keeps happening, so change lasts beyond the session.
Why start now, not in January
Autumn is when many people feel the weight of the year settle. The clocks change, days shorten and the pressure of the final quarter builds. Starting therapy before that pressure peaks is like training in preseason rather than after the injury.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a diagnosis to start individual therapy? No. Many clients come because something feels wrong but they cannot name it. That is a valid reason to begin.
Where are sessions held? In person in Beckenham and London Victoria NHS Health Centres, or online.
